Invasion of the SUV
Over the last 10 years, Britain has seen a colossal rise in the number of sports utility vehicles (SUVs) on the road. The high driving position, spacious interiors and powerful engines add up to quite an impressive package. Pretty much all the big motor manufacturers have added an SUV to their roster, and competition to be the best is fierce!
Let’s be clear the purpose of an SUV is not to go adventuring in the deep Amazon, or rallying in the Sahara- if you want to do that, get a dedicated 4×4. With an SUV it’s all about cruising in comfort. With a taller car you’re more dominant on the road and have a better view of what’s going on. Think of an SUV as a lion- they go about their business in a lazy manner, but are deadly when they need to be. Putting your foot down unleashes a beast.
Some of the most popular SUVs include the Volvo XC90, the Audi Q5 and BMW X5. They are big, bulky and just brilliant. Armed with an automatic gearbox, you really can rule the road and not lift a finger. You don’t want to work hard in an SUV, it should be like sitting in your favourite armchair, just going a bit faster.
Most SUVs have a load of room in the back, so are ideal for taking the kids to school, doing the weekly shop and even loading up with gear for a family weekend away. All this luxury does come at quite a cost though. SUVs are among some of the most expensive cars out there. If you buy second hand however, you can breathe easy and pay much less.
Used cars carry big discounts, so that used Audi Q5 or second hand Volvo XC60 is definitely within reach. Why pay full price for an entry level SUV when you can get a fully loaded top of the range one second hand?
SUVs are a lot of fun. They really are the ultimate cruise in comfort cars. So get yours today, sit back and relax!
